PUTTING DOWN ROOTS—ELEMENTARY

Our elementary program (kindergarten-4th grade) exists to help your child develop a root system that will provide the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to anchor him or her through the challenges and rigors of middle and high school and the lifetime of learning and growing beyond our four walls. The program, therefore, focuses primarily upon strong biblical instruction, phonics-based reading, spelling, grammar, writing, and mathematical reasoning. During middle and high school, when more complex concepts are introduced, these root disciplines will provide your child with the necessary prerequisite knowledge and skills to thrive.

It is also during our elementary years that your child’s unique learning strengths, weaknesses, and unique quirks or intricacies are identified and that we develop strategies and curricula that will develop your child for future growth. No two children grow the same way, and at CCS we want to teach your child the way he or she needs to be taught.

CCS has the professional resources and personnel to utilize effective educational therapies, program modifications, and learning support programs so that students with learning differences can develop strong roots as well.

Remember the soil of the knowledge of God, his love, and his provision that we prepared in preschool? Our elementary program draws upon those same basic nutrients to develop a fully integrated social and spiritual curriculum of love for God and love for others. Your child’s strongest roots should be in this curriculum. During these important years, we partner with you in teaching your child to live God’s love in their own lives. While this effort is integrated into every subject and every experience at CCS, our chapel programs, Kindness Counts program, and Biblical Citizenship curricula are designed to nurture a school culture that effectively teaches children to produce the fruit of the Spirit in their lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

By the end of the elementary years, your child has deep, strong, widespread roots that will serve him or her well as he or she grows up and branches out in middle and high school.
