1/11/22 PTO General Meeting


Present: Elizabeth Howe, Christina Crawford, Jenny Steffie, Barbara Newell, John Niehls, Laura Heebner, John Niehls, Tyler Newell, Wendy , Chris Blasko, Kim Jenkins, Barb Newell


  • Auction Update: Christina Crawford

  • Starting procurement

  • Need parents to volunteer to organize House and class baskets

  • Sent email to teachers to explain auction needs and responsibilities

  • Used Uniform Sale

  • Shannon Brown has volunteered to co-chair

  • Next sale is February 17th (the day of parent teacher conferences)

  • Need to advertise where to drop off used uniforms to donate

  • Box is located by the front office (large wooden chest with CCS logo on top)

  • John Niehls will advertise the location of the box

  • Idea mentioned to sell logo patches to add to clothing for grammar school

  • Pancake Breakfast - April 2nd- Katie Nelson

  • Looking for co-chair

  • Jenny S. will send out email to volunteer list looking for co-chair and volunteers

  • Shannon Brown volunteered to co-chair

  • Need to connect everyone and use the community for resources


  • Urban Air

  • Online only for sign-up

  • Will need volunteers (sign-up genius)

  • Looking to have paper waivers

  • Check-in will be through Urban Air

  • Could we create a bag with socks and wristbands?

  • Create form to have parents come prepared with sock sizes

  • Looking for volunteers to help

  • Sports Boosters

  • Volunteers are needed for concessions

  • Performing Arts

  • February - High School play

  • April - Elementary play - auditions soon

  • Choir gowns and tuxedos are in the process of being ordered

  • Shared cost between PTO and school

  • Budget

  • 5k - Josh Oliver

  • April 2nd 8am 5k run

  • 9am 1 mile obstacle course

  • Consider decreasing cost so kids can run it multiple times

  • Possible Easter Egg hunt

  • Need volunteers to run this portion of this event

  • Consider asking high school students to volunteer for service hours or house points.

  • Barb Newell will look into planning an Easter Egg hunt

  • Changes for 2022

  • Emergency vehicle on call (we can use the golf cart)

  • Redesign the shirts but we like the fabric

  • More rewards, break up the smaller age groups

  • Keep registration with Pretzel City sports

  • Completion medals or ribbons for fun run

  • Connect with Mike Stevens for ideas (runs the Healthy Kids Fun Run program)

  • Next Meeting is February 8th - Town Hall

  • Barbara Roque is looking for wording for the 100 characters on the Gym wall

  • Other ideas

  • Daddy/daughter (father figure) date night

  • dinner/dancing

  • Possibly in the event center

  • Ages K-5

  • Perhaps have a group meet at a restaurant

  • Email to get an interest group in running a dad/daughter date night

  • Fall Fest - Shannon Brown has a lead for a dessert truck
